![]() ![]() 300 BLK VS 7.62X39, Which one wins?īoth can be used for hunting and self-defense, but I personally have chosen the 7.62X39 over the 300 BLK. We have a subsonic 300 Blackout ballistics chart on that page. There are lines of suppressors manufactured with just this round in mind, as well as rifles and pistols.Īnd of course, there are also ammo companies who manufacture subsonic ammo for the 300 BLK. Perhaps the most popular reason for the existence of the 300 BLK is the fact that it is so heavily used with suppressors. The 300 Blackout is usually just chambered in AR-15 rifles, and while it is a top seller for the platform, it is not as popular as the 5.56 NATO is. While the 7.62 is primarily used in popular rifles like the SKS and AK-47, it’s also a popular round for AR-15 platforms. The 300 Blackout is a much newer cartridge only being approved by SAAMI in 2011 and has a long way to go before it reaches the popularity of the Russian round. As far as availability and aftermarket is concerned, the 7.62X39 is the most popular rifle cartridge around the world, and I believe it is the second most popular cartridge in the United States. 7.62X39 VS 300 BLK Availability and Aftermarket This will depend heavily upon each specific round you’re shooting, the way your rifle is setup, wind, elevation, and more. There is a lot that goes into the accuracy of any given projectile. Still, most people don’t buy brass cased 7.62, they buy steel. When and if you ever try to shoot brass cased 7.62 Russian, the price gap gets closer. However, this is when compared to the common steel cased 7.62X39 ammo that most people think about. 300 Blackout vs 7.62X39 Costģ00 BLK tends to be a much more expensive caliber to shoot. I will also say that it heavily depends upon your chosen rifle or pistol, and how it is setup. In terms of recoil, I don’t personally notice that much of a perceived difference between the two. After the 300 yard mark each one drops like a brick. Neither of these cartridges should be considered as long range rounds, because they’re just not. ![]() At 300 yards the above mentioned 7.62X39 drops 14.8 inches and is slightly flatter shooting. 45 is more economical and makes more sense. This 300 BLK ballistics chart shows 125 grain Hornady Frontier FMJ:Īt 300 yards the above mentioned 300 Blackout drops 18.1 inches. But if all you plan on doing is using it for home defense with subsonics and a can without ever using it for engagements outside the home at over 100 yards, a. 300 is better in all cases due to it’s versatility of being a rifle or being converted to a pistol calibered carbine if using subsonic. 300, the wound channel will be bigger than the bullet itself do to the tissue stretching more than the human flesh can stretch to the point where it will snap like a rubber band that’s been stretched to past it’s limit thus making the temporary stretch cavity permanent.īottom line, supersonic around the 2000 FPS window give or take a hundred or so FPS depending on the tissue, will cause more wounding than any slow moving bullet that doesn’t stretch tissue past it’s elasticity limits. When using supersonic ammo around 2000 FPS give it take a hundred FPS in either direction, with the. Slow moving rounds do not create massive stretching of human tissue like rifle rounds going at about 2000 FPS. They will create a wound channel the size of the expanded or non expanded bullet itself due to the stretch cavity of human flesh retracting back around the bullet. 300 will behave about the same in human flesh. Seems like a 45 out of a 6-7 inch barrel loaded with 230 Gold Dots or anything from Underwood rated for defense would be just as good as any super short rifle in the 5.5-9" range. I was really starting to get into 300BLK but since I'm not into hunting (at all) and don't own a farm (predator control) I don't need to reach out and kill stuff to 150 meters. I'd like to see B&T make a steel or Pmag quality 33-35 round 10mm mag for the APC. You either get full power FMJ or HP's like Gold Dot, Hornady Crit Duty, etc.all good stuff and common.īut if you did have the proper 10mm loadings though, man a tiny little PCC with full power 10mm loaded to hot pressures would compete with the best SBRs. If you have a 10mm it seems like you would have to be very picky and only order from boutique online stores (gets expensive- more than rifle) and cant casually buy 10mm from local stores as most of that stuff isn't loaded to peak performance and it's not as commom. #2 lots of MFGs sell 10mm loaded like a 40S&W. #1 no factory 10mm extended mags, only "kits" (I don't like DIY with exspwnsibe guns). ![]() Really looking at the B&T 45 as my main 'house gun". That is exactly what I gathered but just wanted to confirm I'm not crazy. ![]()
